Ingredients

Scale

For the Ribs:

  • 2 lbs boneless beef ribs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin

For the Sauce:

  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon liquid smoke (optional, for extra smoky flavor)

Instructions

Oven Method (Best for Tender Ribs):

  1. Preheat the Oven – Set your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Season the Ribs – In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and cumin. Rub this mixture evenly over the ribs.
  3. Sear the Ribs – Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the ribs for 2-3 minutes per side until browned.
  4. Prepare the Sauce – In a bowl, mix barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic, and liquid smoke.
  5. Bake the Ribs – Place the ribs in a baking dish, pour the sauce over them, and cover with aluminum foil. Bake for 2½ – 3 hours, basting occasionally.
  6. Broil for a Glaze – Remove the foil and broil the ribs for 5 minutes to caramelize the sauce.
  7. Serve – Let the ribs rest for 5 minutes, then serve with extra sauce.

Slow Cooker Method (Easiest Option):

  1. Season the ribs and sear them in a skillet as above.
  2. Place them in a slow cooker, add the sauce, and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4 hours.
  3. Broil if desired for a caramelized finish.

Grill Method (For a Smoky Flavor):

  1. Preheat the grill to medium heat (350°F / 175°C).
  2. Season and sear the ribs, then move them to indirect heat and cover. Cook for 1½ – 2 hours, basting with sauce every 30 minutes.
  3. Finish over direct heat for a final sear, then serve!

Notes

  • For extra tenderness, marinate the ribs in half the sauce for 1-2 hours before cooking.
  • For spicy ribs, add more cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce.
  • Serve with coleslaw, baked beans, mac & cheese, or cornbread for a full meal.
